The Darafeev 938 Maple Backless Swivel Stool proves that a streamlined stool doesn’t have to sacrifice comfort. Its compact 19″ x 19″ footprint and backless profile keep the design visually clean, while a substantial upholstered cushion creates a comfortable seat for everyday use.
Without a back or arms extending above the counter, the 938 can tuck neatly beneath many counters and bars when not in use. It’s an excellent choice for kitchens and entertaining spaces where an open, uncluttered look matters.

3 1/2″ Cushioned Suspension Seat
Despite its minimal profile, the 938 is designed with serious attention to seating comfort.
Beneath the high-resiliency foam cushion is a suspension seating system that provides additional flexibility and support. Rather than sitting directly on a rigid wood surface, the suspended liner responds as you sit and move, creating a softer, more comfortable seating experience.
The generously padded cushion measures 3 1/2″ thick and is upholstered with a tailored fit designed to help maintain a smooth appearance over time.
Swivel Convenience in a Compact Design
The swivel seat lets you turn easily while seated without moving the entire stool across the floor. Combined with the backless design, this makes the 938 particularly versatile around kitchen islands, counters, bars, and other gathering spaces.
Nylon glides on the bottom of the feet also help protect flooring during everyday use.

Three Available Seat Heights
In addition to traditional 26″ counter and 30″ bar heights, the Darafeev 938 is available in a 34″ spectator height. This additional option makes the 938 suitable for taller counters and gathering spaces where a standard bar-height stool may sit too low.
