The Darafeev 915 Maple Flexback Upholstered Swivel Stool is designed for anyone who wants more comfort and flexibility from counter or bar seating. Its streamlined solid maple frame is paired with a generously cushioned seat and supportive upholstered back, but the feature that truly sets the 915 apart is hidden in the way the back moves.
Darafeev’s Flexback design provides a small amount of controlled movement as you lean back, creating a more relaxed and responsive seating experience than a traditional fixed-back stool.
Flexback Comfort
Instead of holding you in one rigid seating position, the Flexback allows the back of the stool to gently move approximately 1 to 1 1/2 inches as you lean into it.
It’s a subtle difference you can feel when seated. The slight give lets the stool respond naturally to your movement, providing additional comfort whether you’re having breakfast at the counter, working at the kitchen island, or spending an evening with friends around the bar.
Suspension Seating for Added Support
Comfort continues beneath the upholstery with Darafeev’s suspension seating system.
A supportive liner is suspended within the wood seat frame beneath the high-resiliency foam cushion. This construction provides additional flexibility compared with sitting over a completely rigid seat base and helps distribute support as you move.
Combined with the substantial 3 1/2″ upholstered cushion, the suspension system creates comfortable seating designed for more than a quick meal.
Handcrafted Solid Maple Frame
The 915 is handcrafted in the USA from select solid maple hardwood, giving the stool the strength and stability needed for everyday use.
Darafeev combines traditional furniture-making techniques with a detailed multi-step finishing process to bring out the natural character of the maple while creating a durable finish suitable for busy kitchens and entertaining spaces.
Smooth 360° Swivel
A full 360° swivel gives you the freedom to turn toward the counter, conversation, or surrounding room without repeatedly dragging or repositioning the stool.
A sturdy integrated footrest provides a natural place to rest your feet while seated, while nylon glides beneath the legs help protect flooring.

Customer’s Own Material (C.O.M.) is also available for projects requiring a specific upholstery material or pattern.

Genuine Top Grain Italian Leather Selection – Saloon is a semi-aniline leather with a waxy crackle effect. The distinctive qualities of this article are its smooth, silky hand feel and its gentle matte finish. Saloon has been designed to resist scratching and has virtually no color variation.
